About Rochie's Friendship Network
B"H Sunday 12 Sivan June 15
Rochie is a 26-year old mother currently in critical condition. On Wednesday, Isru Chag shavuot (June 11) she failed to wake up in the morning, and shortly thereafter went into cardiac arrest. She was revived and is now in a coma and on life support, and although her heart is thank G-d beating, the doctors say she needs a miracle. We do not know what caused this, as she was perfectly healthy with no previous medical problems. Her husband, 11-month-old-child, parents, brothers and sisters, and her many, many friends all over the world are all praying for her to be restored to us. The doctors and hospital staff are doing their part, but she desperately needs our prayers and good deeds to aid her recovery.
Rochie's family and friends have created this blog as a place to log our efforts on her behalf. Please join us!
If there is one thing that characterizes Rochie it is her devotion and caring as a friend. We therefore felt that the most appropriate way to aid her recovery is by increasing our own commitment to helping others and being a true friend to someone who needs us to be there for them. Do you know anyone who needs a hand at home, someone who needs a shidduch, a loan, an encouraging word or two? Do it today instead of tomorrow in Rochie's merit!
Please use the comment section of this post to post the things you will and have done in Rochie's merit, and to view the ideas suggested by others.

Here in France we say Tehilim for her recovery, may it be RIGHT NOW !
I Take on to be more concentration while Praying. May she have a speedy recovery
I have been so worked up sad and depressed about this unexplainable situation that it has been hard for me to function.
Now that the family has setup up this blog I am feeling more positive and more tachlisdik.
I have been planning an end of the year banquet/farbrengen for the students in my school around 150 girls. Now that the last details need to be put into place I felt like I just don't care and however the program turns out is good enough.
But when I think of Rochie and how she always does things all the way- thinking and planning every last detail-that is how I will prepare for this program.
I will make sure all of the girls are involved and that they all walk away taking upon themselves hachlotos to keep up their ruchnios and mitzvos over the summer!
I will also stress to the girls the importance of Ahvas Yisroel and the power of friendship-and help them come up with suggestions and scenarios of how they can really be a true friend (like Rochie) in the summer when they will all find themselves in different settings and in different situations!
I will iy"h post the suggestions and hachlotos that he girls will come up with.
I've been thinking of starting a Bat Mitzvah Club for a while. In Rochie's merit I finally ordered the Bat Mitzvah Club curriculum tonight. IY"H I plan on starting right away.

I'll b"n be giving tzedakah and of course saying Tehillim for Rochie for her complete refuah, may it be immediately. Rochie, we're all looking forward to seeing your beautful and vibrant smile very soon.
Indeed of all of Rochie's known qualities, Ahavas Yisrael is the most outstanding. In fact I cannot recall an instance where she had something bad to say about anyone else! Bli neder in her merit i will be extra careful not to speak negative of another until she fully recovers. If it interests anyone to take a similar resolution (for one week perhaps), please tell us! Perhaps in the merit of this mitzvah she will be saved (as the possuk says "Life and death are in the 'hands' of the tongue"). but in any case, you'll be sure to have a more enjoyable -not to mention friendlier- week!
The family and friends are saying the whole Tehillim everyday, each person saying one Yom Tehillim. Anyone who would like to join and say a Yom Tehillim can visit yomtehillim.googlepages.com and choose a Yom to say everyday. May she have a Refuah Shleima NOW!
Ill iy"h start davening mincha every day for her recovery.
here is the link
To all who post a Hachlata, please keep in mind that your hachlata will continue after Rochie gets better I"yh.

Especially as the Rambam cycle for the coming year starts today, I will take it upon myself:
1) Not to miss a single Rambam this coming year, even when overworked or traveling.
2) To make up the 5 days/15 prakim I know I missed last year by Motzoei Shabbos.
3) To really learn and remember, instead of just quickly reading and "blowing off" all prakim of Rambam as well as all Chitas which I learn from today onward.
Refuah sheleima - we should hear only good news!
I take on to give extra tzedaka daily.
I will Iy"h give extra tzedaka and say chitas for next month
I am also taking upon myself to be cafeful about speaking or listening to negative things about others.
Rochie helped me do teshuvah. Only through her kindness and friendship was i so excited about becoming frum. She never saw the bad in me and always had faith. If at anytime during the day i had a problem i can ask her without feeling intimidated. In crown heights i always felt intimidated by many of the religious people there, she made me feel part of the family. I Love you Rochie, and im crying as im writing this message. I will IY'H bli neder take upon myself to be more consistent with my chitas. Refuah Shlemah, cant wait to hear good news. It will ony be good news!
I'm going to try my best not to speak badly or knock another Jew or another way of Jewish life. Whether they are Chassidish, Litvish, Reform, Conservative, Orthodox or unaffiliated, we are all Hashem's children. Sinas Chinom brought our destruction, and Ahavas Chinom will bring the Redemption.
May we hear Besuros Tovos very soon.
I take upon myself to learn hayom yom everyday as I'm sure, knowing Rochie, she definitely did that everyday. I hope this will tip the scale and help give Rochie a complete and speedy recovery. Moshiach Now!!
I take upon myself to learn hayom yom everyday as I'm sure, knowing Rochie, she definitely did that everyday. I hope this will tip the scale and help give Rochie a complete and speedy recovery. Moshiach Now!!

In your merit i am going to put extra kavana into the brocha of refoeinu 3 times a day BLN. Throughout the day as i am confronted my life's everyday choices, I keep thinking of you and it really helps me to choose the better option. Refuah Shleima Rochie. Tracht gut vet zein gut. Teshuas Hashem Kheref ayin.
I will try and say her kapital every day till she gets better...may it be very soon!!
I and my eleven first grade students have taken upon ourselves hachlatos to increase in ahavas Yisroel by reaching out and being kind to others, especially those who don't have many friends.
Rochie was my madricha at my first yeshiva vacation more than 4 years ago. She graciously invited me to stay by her aunt's house and since then I have always felt at home there. I will never forget her family and her hospitabilaty.
In your merit Rochie I will give extra tzedaka and be more careful with Tzinut. My Husband, Isaac, will take on one chapter of Rambam daily.
May we see miracles with a speedy recovery for Rochie!

My husband has a tehillim group on face book that says the whole tehillim bi- weekly and it's set up in a system where if everyone does their part the whole tehillim is said 5 times bi-weekly. we are going to dedicate that tehillim group in her merit. To join click on the link posted. (ps. this is a separate group from the one mentioned in this blog) from the one that opened in her merit but may she have a speedy and complete recovery!!!!! May our mitzvahs and good deeds in her merit open the shamayim!!! The news of this happening has really been bothering me. Every time I do a mitzvah, I will say bl'n it's in her merit. I'm a mother of a child under 1 yrs.. old and my biggest fear is that she should not have a mommy to raise her. CV"S. May Rochie's baby always have Rochie alive and well! may we also see the final and complete redemption! Ad mosi?!?

another tehillim group which is dedicated to those who are suffering - Rochie's name has been added to the list at the top as urgent. It is monthly and this cycle ends 10 Tammuz but you can still join.
Rochie, a truly positive person you are - I am going to try to see the positive in people and the situations around me, rather than being quick to be critical and judgemental. Hashem should see how your friends around you are adding in so many good ways and give you a quick complete recovery NOW!!!!

Just to comment on the previous post, I have been thinking the past few days of organizing people to go to the Kings Brook nursing home, as practically EVERY SHABBOS, as an elementary and high school girl Rochie volunteered her Shabbos to go to THIS nursing home and to bring some joy and happiness to the patients, either through singing, feeding, smiling and wishing them a Good Shabbos or just plain old encouragement for the patients families. To the previous comment: YOUR COMMENT AND SUGGESTION COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE APPROPRIATE!!
Tzvi Hirsh and Boruch Shusterman said tehillim for Rochies speedy recovery!! I"YH today wednesday should help Rochie all the times going out to the Realeased Time children, teaching them Yiddishkiet , staying there later talking to them, making Shabbotons for them, in this merit she should have a speedy recovery only simchas!!!!!
I take upon myself to think a positive thought about a about any person I may be inclined to judge. I also have added a daily Tehillim segment for a Refuah Sheleima for Rochie. Hashem, please see the unity of Your people in Rochie's merit and take down any barriers for a full and speedy recovery for Rochie right now!
I have said tehillim in her merit.
The Alter of Novardhok once advised the relatives of a sick person to hire two bachurs to say Amen Yehei Shemei Rabba with complete kavannah to merit a complete recovery for their family member. Our Sages promise explicitly that this said with kavannah nullifies evil decrees. While this sounds entirely simplistic, it must be taken very seriously as these are the words of chazal.
The children who attend her shul should also be gathered and told to answer to the kaddish (with the encouragement of a little candy and an understanding of the prayer's importance) enthusiastically. This has proven to be tremendously helpful not only for the recovery of ill people but also for childless couples. For more information on the power of Amen, please refer to Esther Stern's book, "Just one word-Amen". May she merit refuah b'ruchnios and b'gashmius. AMEN!!!
I will be nice to my friends.
I will listen to my parents.
I will make every effort to be more tzniusdik and will try not to talk loshon hora. I pray for her speedy recovery. may she live to be 120. Refuah sheleima.

Rochie has worked for me on and off over the past 6 years. I am so devastated about all this and feel helpless. I have increased my tehillim, lit early last Shabbos and am very careful to only wear my sheitel out of the house. I have also decided to take on to try IYH to daven Maariv every Friday eve, (as a mother) I have been lax in this area.
I miss you Rochie, and I too think about you all the time and it is helping me to make better chooses throughout my day.

One of Rochie's 'special mitzvos' is to help Kallah's. She has aranged showers for girls and helped out making a Shabbos Kallah for so many. I suggest, when giving Tzedakah in her Zchus, to give to places like KSCV, Ten Yad and other's like that.

The Bnos Rabbeinu High School took on a hachlata to be nice and loving to ALL of our campers no matter how annoying or frusterated they make us. It should be bizchus all the hachlatos and tehillim that is done and said in honor of her we should have her immediate refua with moshiach now!
I will give I"YH tzedaka and pray for her recovery every day. Refuah Sheleima!
Today we dedicated our weekly pirkei ovos gathering to the zechus of a refuah shleima for rochie. We had 10 - 12 girls where in the past few weeks we had under 5.
I am a shlucha, and i will try as hard as possible to make people become frum on your behalf, stay strong Rochie!
I suggested a shidduch for someone else after it didn't work our for someone in my family.
For now on our weekly Torah class in our Chabad house will be in honor of Rochie's Refuah Shelaima.
an LEC student of rabbi tauber's says:
"i will be nicer to my brothers and my sister."
I'm trying to be more careful with tichel in the house.
My husband is trying to get up on time in the mornings to be able to davven properly.
I have signed up to say Tehillim daily for Rochie; I give tzedkah before davening to KSCVK in her merit and have dedicated our weekly Tanya shiur for her complete & speedy recovery. Rochie taught me the importance of davening Mincha, so I'd like to suggest that all women & girls make a special effort to daven mincha every day in her merit. I miss you Rochie!!
Rochie has been a counselor at our camp Gan Israel in Dayton , Ohio a number of times. Rchie has made long lasting friendships with families here . Just ten days before Shavuos I called Rochie with last minutes notice asking her if she could do me a favor and take a woman from Dayton around Crown Heights for a few hours. Rochie agreed immediately and did it happily.
This Woman, Judy, had such a wonderful time with Rochie, and mentioned that she feels like she met a friend right away and gto to know her family in so short a time. This is who Rochie is, kind, compassionate, and ready to do anything to help someone.
In the merit of A speedy recovery, in addition to saying extra Tehillim daily, and daavening daily, I have made a hachlata, to visit members of our community who are recovering from illnesses. There's always excuses to push it off, and now I am commited to do it ona regular basis, and to also reconnect with people who moved from our community who need someone to talk to more often.
Devorah Leah Mangel
All the mangel children are thinking of you all the time and are saying tehillim for you
I will iy"h try to say the whole tehilm in honor of Rochie every shabbos mevarchim!!!
I will share my candies and cookies with my brothers.
I will take upon myself to give tzedaka before i go to bed
I began fulfilling my hachlota a few days ago but it would not be a bad idea to post it, perhaps to encourage others and possibly to be transcribed along with all the other hachlotas and taken to the ohel on gimmel tammuz.
My small bit of help has been to say yom tes of tehillim in addition to the regular yom and Rebbe's kapitel for two straight weeks - for now. Possibly longer if ch'v she does not improve, bkarov mamosh.
I am starting a 40 day Machsom L'Fi for Rochie, wherein participants choose one or two hours in which they pay particular attention to their speech and listening in the merit of Rochie's full and speedy recovery (it should be much sooner than 40 days!)
Anyone interested in joining, please contact Chayamiriam at chayamiriam@sbcglobal.net
My doctor in SA said that I should bake Challah every week to bring about a refuah shleima. I have done so only a few times and he is always upset when I do not do so. I had baruch Hashem 43 ladies take Challah for me 3!/2 years ago to find my Zivug and Baruch Hashem it worked. As a small token of my thanks to Hashem and to bring forth an immediate refuah sleima I am going to try my hardest to bake Challah everyweek and to establish a Challah baking group for Rochie in SA every week until she is completely well. Rochie I think of you all the time and feel so guilty that I am not doing more to help you. May Hashem bless you with an immediate refuah shleima with an infinite number of brochas for you and your family always! Michal from Machon Chana.

On Thursday night some of Rochies friends got together at the home of Chaya Blachman for a Fabrengen. They said Tehillim gave Tzedoka and made Lechaim for Rochie saying she should walk out of hospital now on her own two feet! The Fabrengen was lead by N D Shusterman who as always told many inspiring stories. One story she said was about a family in Boro Park who lost their mother. The famil took on between themselves to always find someone to say Amen to their Bracha. One day the 6 yr old came home from school and was thirsty. She poured herself a drink but there was noone to answer Amen so she waited. 2 hrs later someone came home she made the Bracha and gulped that drink down. That night her mother came to her in a dream. She told her "you cannot imagine the tumult you caused among the Malochim because you waited 2 hrs. Because of you another kid in your class who has Yene Machla will be completly cured." The girl woke up in fright and ran to tell her father. The next morning he called the teacher who told him indeed there actually was a kid in the class who had just found out she was sick. They called her father and told them the whole story. The child was just about to start chemo. The father told them to redo the testing and they found she was clear. The doctors were dumbfounded. We can see how special is the power of Amen to Hashem.
In Rochie's merit I took on to be carful with tzniyos around the house.
I recall Rochie once saying how she is so careful not to leave the house even to a neighbor with a Sheitel so a sugestion for the married ladies to take on.
I said the first 3 Yom of Tehillim on Shabbos Mevorchim Chodesh Tamuz
IY"H I will work diligently on my friend's shidduchim and set up a mother's helper position for a new mother of twins
Earlier this year my Jewish family the world over prayed for me and took on hachlatos for me when my life hung in the balance. I have no doubt that this is why H-shem has restored me to my family, including my 9-month old baby. The wonderful women of Worcester who shook Heaven for me are likewise praying for Rochie. My children and I decided to carefully say "Asher Yatzar" from a chart or siddur, knowing the powerful connection between this bracha and health. In addition we will pray for her each day at bedtime, hoping that she too will very soon be putting her little one to bed in perfect health! Refuah Shleimah and Moshiach Now!

I went to the farbrangen by 770 we should only hear good news AMEN
This is in response to Devorah Leah Mangel's post of June 23, to add a continuation of the story. I met Rochie about 5 years ago at a Machon Chana summer program. She helped me leearn, grow, bake and we became friends. I was so surprised that she kept in touch after we went home, me to California as I am closer to her mother's age than to hers. Needless to say, we have stayed close since. She called me one day so very excited, told me all about how her Shlucha friend in Ohio had asked her to take a woman around Crown Heights. She was amazed and in awe at the excitement the woman felt for being in Crown Heights, at 770, in the Rebbe's Library. But the real reason she was calling was because she thought of me, that this woman reminded her of me and that she thought we should be in touch and could develop a friendship. That is Rochie - always thinking of others, how she can spread the light of Yiddishkeit and Ahavas Yisrael. Rochie, I'm still waiting for her email address.
Debbie in California
I will try to daven Mincha again every day and try to be more in touch with my old friends.
Rochie may you have your 3 Tammuz miracle immediately, with your complete recovery BH! This is not a hachlota but a personal story. I hope it gives family and friends some chizuck. 3 years ago 3 Tammuz, 1 of the most important people in my life during an operation went into cardiac arrest. Her heart stopped beating for 15 minuites, and then she was revived BH. The doctor's said it was not possible and couldn't explain it, a clear miracle. She was on life support in a critical condition. I went to the ohel and poured my heart out! The Rebbe MHM gave a big brocha for a refuah sheleima! I had asked my father in South Africa to have the mezuzas checked as soon as possible. As it turns out 1 of them was completely blank. After a few days she was off the life support and moved to High Care. Baruch Hashem all our tefillas were answered! The amazing thing is that the bill from the sofer came to 770 Rand. A clear 3 Tammuz miracle from the Rebbe!!!!! Rochie may the same miracle which we pray for everyday be yours now!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Hashem for your great kindness always!
I try to cover my hair better.
I will be saying tehillim.
Will also be going to pay a shiva call. May Rochie have a miraculous recovery and live as long as our beloved Miriam who passed away Tuesday at 99.
Chai Basha (NY)

Last week, a brachos party was held here locally, whereby women sampled from different foods and individually recited appropriate brachos with the purpose of maximizing the number of Amens responded. Rochie's name was mentioned at this party and several people endeavored to take on tehillim recitation for her recovery. We hope that future brachos parties will be held and in the merit of all the Amens said fervently, she will have a complete and immeidate yeshua. Amen.

In Rochie's merit i will try to be kinder to my husband and make our sholom bayis better, and appreciate him more.
I will try to look without judging, to put myself into others' shoes and open my heart.
I will I"H be more stringent in saying chitas for the next five months.
In S. Diego we are saying mishebeirach, Tehillim and give classes for Rochie's Refuah Shelaima. At this moment 20 traveling campers just arrived at the Chabad House from Israel and are putting Tefillin in her honor.
Driving for Bikur Cholim of Montreal.

To Rochie...
"Adon Olam Asher Molach"..Lord of the universe,
who reigned before anything was created....
A daughter is born , a mother is made.
Who is the mother ?
Who is the daughter?
was not once the mother a daughter?
do we not pray that a daughter become a mother?
indeed mother, daughter, grandchild are one!
....at times by g-d's choice this cycle takes a painful turn....sigh
yet the wheels of life is not broken.
a daughter's soul is taken to soon......returned to
"B'yado Afkid Ruchi"...into His Hand i entrust my "Rochie"....
however not before a mother was made of her.
heartbroken all we say ...
"B"es I'shan V'oera" when i sleep and when i awake..
in the heaven where she was taken
and when she awakens with moshiachs' call....
"Hashem Li V'lo Eira" Hashem is with me , i shall not fear..
for i know Rochie's presence is still very much here as she was, she is, and will always be,even more then before... very quietly here.
vhikatza veranan shochnie afar bkorov v'he bsucho.
amen bkorov
